NANS Threatens Protest Against MTN, MultiChoice Over Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa
The South-West Zone D leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students has announced plans to stage protests against South African companies operating in Nigeria over renewed xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The student body said the action follows reports that some Nigerians were recently killed during violent attacks in the country.

In a statement issued by the South-West Zonal Coordinator, Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, the association condemned the attacks and described them as unacceptable.

According to the statement, NANS is mobilising students and supporters for peaceful picketing and advocacy campaigns targeting South African business interests in Nigeria.

The group specifically mentioned MTN Group and MultiChoice Group among companies likely to be affected.

NANS argued that it is unfair for South African companies to operate successfully in Nigeria while Nigerians face violence and insecurity in South Africa.

The association said the situation represents a contradiction that can no longer be ignored.

It also called for immediate action to stop attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa.

The latest development has renewed conversations around xenophobia, diplomatic relations, and the safety of Nigerians abroad.

As of the time of this report, neither the South African government nor the companies mentioned had officially responded to the threat of protests.
