Nigerian music superstar Davido has opened up about the emotional moment he shared with his wife, Chioma Adeleke, after losing at the Grammy Awards for the second time.
Davido’s hit song With You, featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category but failed to secure the award at the highly competitive ceremony.
Tough Category, Heavy Nigerian Presence
The category was fiercely contested, with strong Nigerian representation dominating the nominations. Artists nominated included Burna Boy (Love), Davido (With You featuring Omah Lay), and a joint entry from Ayra Starr and Wizkid (Gimme Dat).
Other nominees were Eddy Kenzo (Hope & Love) and *Mehran Matin. Despite Nigeria’s strong showing, none of the country’s artists emerged as winners.
The award eventually went to South African singer Tyla for her track Push 2 Start, earning her a second Grammy win.
Davido Shares Chioma’s Powerful Words
Following the loss, Davido took to Instagram on Monday night to share a personal moment between him and Chioma. According to the singer, he initially suggested skipping the Grammy after-party after losing out again.
However, Chioma had other ideas.
“I said, ‘Baby listen, we lost again, let’s not go!’ She said, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside,’” Davido wrote.
Fans Praise Chioma’s Support
The post quickly drew reactions from fans, many praising Chioma for her maturity and unwavering support, while commending Davido for his grace in defeat.
The moment has since resonated with fans, highlighting the couple’s bond and Chioma’s role as a steady source of encouragement in Davido’s career journey.
