IMG 9420Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has fired back strongly at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following his recent comments on the internal affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor, had publicly declared his interest in developments within the Oyo PDP, insisting his concern was driven by a desire to see the party survive and remain relevant.

IMG 9419“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP,” Wike said.

He added that his position was influenced by the PDP’s history as a former ruling party at the federal level.

Makinde Responds: ‘The Vagabonds Have Been Expelled’

Reacting on Tuesday, Governor Makinde dismissed Wike’s remarks and described him and his political allies as “vagabonds” who no longer have a place in the PDP.

Speaking pointedly, the Oyo governor questioned Wike’s moral standing to comment on PDP matters in Oyo State, especially considering events in Rivers State, his political base.

“In Yorubaland, we say if you see a peaceful compound, the vagabond in that house has not grown up,” Makinde said.

He further claimed that those he referred to as vagabonds had already been removed from the party.

“The vagabonds in the PDP grew up in 2015. They had their time. For 10 years, they practiced their vagabondry in the PDP, but they were expelled in November 2025. So there are no more vagabonds in the PDP,” he added.

‘What Has He Done for PDP in Rivers?’

Makinde also challenged Wike’s sudden interest in Oyo PDP affairs, questioning his contributions to the party in Rivers State.

“Someone said he is interested in the activities of the PDP in Oyo State. Help me ask him what he has done for the PDP in Rivers State where he comes from,” the governor stated.

Makinde Ends With Sharp Yoruba Proverb

Concluding his remarks, Makinde delivered a final jab using a Yoruba proverb, likening Wike and his allies to people “wearing rags and dancing in the middle of the night,” suggesting that daylight would soon expose them.

The exchange has since sparked intense reactions online, with party supporters and political observers debating the growing tension within the PDP ahead of future elections.
