President Bola Tinubu has dispatched a high-powered delegation to Esiele and Yawota communities in Oyo State following the abduction of pupils and teachers during coordinated attacks on schools in the area.
The delegation is led by Femi Gbajabiamila and includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as well as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Other members of the team include Christopher Musa, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, and Special Adviser on Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
Sunday Dare disclosed the development in a post on X on Sunday.
According to him, the delegation arrived in Ogbomoso before proceeding to the affected communities where armed men carried out simultaneous attacks on schools.
“A powerful Presidential Delegation just arrived Ogbomoso enroute to the villages of Esiele and Yawota where armed men simultaneously raided Baptist Nursery and Primary schools seizing about 46 pupils and teachers,” Dare stated.
He noted that the affected communities are located within Orire Local Government Area in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State.
The abduction occurred after gunmen attacked schools in the area, kidnapping dozens of pupils and teachers and leaving residents in shock.
The incident has sparked nationwide concern, with families, community leaders, civil society groups and public figures demanding urgent action from authorities.
Dare further stated that President Tinubu had already activated a series of coordinated security efforts aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending those responsible.
“President Tinubu since set in motion series of coordinated efforts to free the victims and arrest the kidnappers,” he added.
The visit by the presidential delegation comes amid growing pressure on security agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers, whose continued captivity has generated widespread outrage across the country.
