
The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Anthony Okon Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
Placid takes over from Benjamin Hundeyin, whose redeployment has not been officially explained.
Experienced Officer Takes Over Police Image Unit
According to the police, the new spokesman is a seasoned officer with experience in administration, intelligence, operations, training, and international peacekeeping.
He was born on December 2, 1970, in Mbiokporo Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Placid holds:
- B.Sc in Geography and Regional Planning, University of Uyo
- M.A in Law and Diplomacy, University of Jos
He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Police Academy Kano in 1996 and was commissioned in 1998.
International Training and Peacekeeping Experience
The new police spokesman has attended several professional and international courses, including United Nations peace operations training.
He has certifications in:

- Military Studies
- Human Rights
- Gender Awareness
- International Humanitarian Law
- Civilian Protection
He also served in international missions, including:
- African Union Mission in Sudan
- United Nations Mission in Darfur
- African Union Election Security operations

- Divisional Police Officer in Calabar, Bakassi, Uruan, and Gembu

- Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola
He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, where he completed Senior Executive Course 47 in 2025.
No Reason Given for Hundeyin’s Removal
Police authorities did not state why Benjamin Hundeyin was removed from the position, and his new posting has not yet been announced.
