Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from prison, alleging that he was set up in the case that led to his conviction.
The actor made the claim in a video posted on his YouTube page titled Eniwaye Dáràn, where he shared his version of events surrounding the 2021 incident involving actress Princess Adekola.
“My trust was betrayed”
Baba Ijesha said the situation that led to his arrest happened after he was invited to Princess’ residence.
According to him, he was told that food had been prepared for him and that there was a movie role waiting for him, only to later realise that the situation allegedly led to his arrest.
“My trust was betrayed. I ended up in Kirikiri prison because of a woman. She asked them to silence me so that my voice would not be heard. Please listen to my own side of the story,” he said.
He warned his fans to be careful about trusting people, saying the experience taught him a painful lesson.
“Please, my fans, be careful with friends. They cannot be trusted. The world is evil, and human beings are more wicked than venomous snakes,” he added.
Background of the 2021 Case
The case dates back to April 2021 when Princess accused the actor of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter, a development that caused widespread outrage across Nigeria and the Nollywood industry.
Baba Ijesha was later arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced to prison after the court found him guilty on some of the charges.
He completed his sentence and regained freedom in November 2025.
