Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries has reacted to the backlash trailing viral social media clips showing some of the expensive wristwatches in his collection.
Speaking during a church service, the Port Harcourt-based cleric clarified that the videos circulating online do not even reflect the full extent of his luxury watch collection.
Pastor Ibiyeomie Reveals $2 Million Watch Gift
According to him, one of his supporters once gifted him a wristwatch worth $2 million.
In his words:
“Someone gave me a watch worth $2 million. I have not even worn half of my watches. The one they show on social media is just small, I have many watches. If they see all my watches, they’d just faint. I’m getting watches because I’m solving problems.”
“I Don’t Buy Them” — Pastor Says Watches Are Gifts
Pastor Ibiyeomie also insisted that he does not personally buy the watches.
He explained that many of them were given to him by people who claim they were instructed by God to bless their pastor.
“A young man came to me and said God instructed him to give his pastor. He told me God told him to give them to me. So I have a lot; the ones posted online are even small.”
Social Media Reacts
His comments have sparked fresh debates online, as Nigerians continue to argue about the increasing display of wealth by some religious leaders.
However, Pastor Ibiyeomie maintained that the luxury items are not personal purchases but gifts received through his ministry.
