Assistant Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu has been appointed as Nigeria’s new Inspector-General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun, a presidency source has confirmed.
The source disclosed the development to ARISE News on Tuesday, stating that the decision has received multiple confirmations and that an official announcement from the Presidency is expected shortly.
“AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed,” the source said, adding that the information had received “double confirmation.”
As of the time of filing this report, attempts to obtain a response from the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful.
Further details regarding the circumstances of the leadership change, including the formal handover process and official statements from the Presidency and the Nigeria Police Force, are expected to be released in due course.
The appointment marks a significant change in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, with Tunji Disu expected to assume full operational and administrative control once formally inaugurated.
