US President, Donald Trump has threatened to “massively blow up” Iran’s South Pars gas field if Tehran continues its attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

The warning comes after Israel targeted the South Pars field, the world’s largest gas reserve shared by Iran and Qatar, marking a major escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Iran responded with fresh strikes across the region, including attacks on Qatari liquefied natural gas facilities, further intensifying tensions.

Reacting, Trump said the United States would respond forcefully if Iran continues targeting gas infrastructure.

“If Iran attacks again, the United States… will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars gas field at a level Iran has never seen,” he warned.

Trump also claimed that Israel would not strike the facility again unless Iran launches further attacks on Qatar’s energy sites, adding that Doha had no prior knowledge of the initial strike.

The escalation has rattled global markets, with oil prices surging and gas prices spiking sharply amid fears of supply disruptions. Brent crude rose to around $114 per barrel, while European gas prices jumped significantly.

Energy infrastructure across the Gulf has already been affected. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates reported shutting down operations at key gas facilities following Iranian attacks, while Qatar confirmed damage and fires at parts of its Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas hub.

Despite Trump’s claim that Washington was unaware of Israel’s strike, US media reports suggested otherwise, indicating prior knowledge or approval.

The situation has heightened concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that remains largely closed, disrupting the flow of oil and gas supplies worldwide.

World leaders have called for restraint. France Leader,  Emmanuel Macron urged a halt to attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure, warning that continued escalation could threaten global energy security and civilian lives.

The conflict has also spread beyond energy targets, with casualties reported across multiple regions, including Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories, as the crisis deepens with no clear resolution in sight.
