Nigerian Army Arrests 53 Suspects In Plateau Raids, Recovers Weapons And Stolen Cattle

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 53 suspected criminals and members of extremist groups during coordinated security operations carried out within 24 hours in Plateau State.

The arrests took place in Barkin Ladi and Jos North Local Government Areas during raids conducted under Operation Ensuring Peace (OPEP).

Raid On Drug Den Leads To Arrests

According to operational reports, troops from Sector 4 of the operation raided a suspected drug hideout in Angwan Yama and Kasua communities in Barkin Ladi.

Nine suspects were arrested during the raid.

Security operatives recovered substances believed to be Cannabis sativa, mobile phones, power banks, and other personal belongings from the suspects.

44 Suspected Sara Suka Members Arrested In Jos

In another operation carried out around 1:30 a.m., troops from Sector 1, working with Special Forces and the Department of State Services, arrested 44 suspected members of the Sara Suka group in different parts of Jos North.

Security sources said dangerous weapons were recovered during the operation, although full details of the items seized were not disclosed.

Stolen Cattle Recovered

The report also confirmed that soldiers recovered four cattle earlier stolen from Lugere community in Riyom Local Government Area.

The animals were returned to the owner, while security agencies continue the search for those behind the theft.

Military Continues Crackdown In Plateau

Security authorities said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to restore peace in Plateau State and stop criminal activities in troubled communities.

Troops have increased surveillance and raids across flashpoint areas as part of measures to prevent further violence.
