Law enforcement sources have identified Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, as the suspect in the shooting death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The killing occurred on September 10, 2025, during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
President Donald Trump, speaking publicly, said that Robinson was turned in by a person close to him and that his father played a role in facilitating his surrender, via a minister working with law enforcement.
Authorities recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the shooting. Forensic evidence such as footwear prints and palm/forearm prints were also found.
Investigators say they are working to confirm motive and the full chain of evidence. As of now, public confirmation from courts or official law enforcement statements beyond identifying Robinson remains forthcoming.
