Social media commentator VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, has publicly denied allegations linking him to an alleged religious propaganda campaign aimed at creating tension between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.
The controversy followed a viral video showing a young man being questioned and physically assaulted after reportedly entering a mosque to pray.
According to claims made in the video, the young man allegedly confessed during the interrogation that he was a Christian sponsored by religious organisations and VeryDarkMan to spread narratives suggesting Christians were being attacked by Muslims.
Reacting to the allegations, VeryDarkMan dismissed the claims as false and fabricated.
“In this video, it is said that the young man sitting on the ground walked into a mosque to pray and due to his movement in the mosque they suspected him for something because he didn’t fit in and so they took him outside the mosque for questioning,” he stated.
“He said that he and others are heavily sponsored by VeryDarkMan to create unrest and push narrative and agenda that Christians are being kpai by Muslims.”
The activist insisted he has never met the young man involved in the incident and has never sponsored any religious propaganda campaign.
“I will like to clarify that these allegations are NOT true. I have never met the young man in my life, I have never sponsored a religious propaganda or narrative in my life,” he said.
VeryDarkMan further stressed that he would never support actions capable of causing violence, unrest, or loss of lives in the country.
He also announced a ₦1 million reward for anyone who can provide useful information about the identity of the man featured in the viral video.
“Lastly, I am giving one million Naira to anyone that can give me useful information about the man in the video,” he added.
The incident has continued to generate reactions online amid growing concerns over religious sensitivity, misinformation, and the spread of viral content capable of escalating tensions.
