The mother of 28-year-old musician Oghenemine Ogidi has accused the police of being responsible for the deaths of two of her sons in separate incidents.
Her claim comes amid growing controversy surrounding Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman, who is currently in detention over the killing of her younger son in Delta State.
The woman’s emotional account surfaced in a viral video showing a condolence visit by Harrison Gwamnishu and his team.
In the footage, she said the latest incident has reopened painful memories, revealing that she had previously lost another son in 2022 under similar circumstances involving police officers.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she said while expressing grief.
Police authorities confirmed that the officer linked to the recent shooting has been taken into custody.
The incident reportedly occurred during an operation by officers attached to the Effurun Area Command.
According to police accounts, the team acted on intelligence about a suspect allegedly carrying a firearm.
However, the situation has taken a different turn following the emergence of a viral video online.
The footage appears to show the victim already restrained and pleading before the fatal shot was fired, raising questions about the circumstances of the operation.
The development has triggered widespread reactions, with many Nigerians demanding a thorough investigation and accountability.
Authorities have yet to release a detailed outcome of the ongoing probe.
The case continues to draw attention as calls grow for reforms and stricter oversight of police conduct.
