Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is expected to take on greater responsibilities at Galatasaray from next season, according to head coach Okan Buruk.
The Super Eagles star has continued to earn strong respect within the squad through his performances and leadership qualities.
Osimhen played a major role in helping Galatasaray secure a domestic double last season and remains one of the team’s most important players.
The 27-year-old forward has already scored 20 goals across all competitions this season as the Turkish giants push for a fourth consecutive league title.
Reports also suggest current captain Mauro Icardi could leave the club at the end of the campaign.
With uncertainty surrounding the captaincy, Buruk hinted that Osimhen is among the players being considered for a leadership role.
Speaking on the Nigerian striker, the manager described him as a strong leader within the dressing room.
He added that Osimhen already functions as one of the team’s hidden captains because of his influence and character.
The development will excite Nigerian fans, as Osimhen continues to grow into one of Africa’s most respected footballers.
If confirmed, the captaincy role would mark another major milestone in his career and further strengthen his status at Galatasaray.
