Bola Ahmed Tinubu 1 2 The NaijaWide News

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has acknowledged the growing hardship caused by the recent increase in fuel prices, saying the Federal Government is already working on measures to reduce the burden on Nigerians.

This was disclosed by the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, during the Eid el Fitr celebration held in Dutse, where he addressed residents after receiving the Emir of Dutse and other traditional leaders during the Hawan Bariki Durbar.

According to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, the governor said the President is concerned about the economic pressure citizens are facing and has directed that steps be taken to ease the situation.

Namadi explained that the recent rise in petroleum prices is connected to ongoing developments in the Middle East, which have affected global oil supply and contributed to higher costs.

He noted that the increase has placed extra pressure on Nigerians, especially in transportation and daily living expenses.

The governor said the Federal Government has already started looking at ways to reduce transport costs across the country as part of efforts to cushion the effect of the fuel price adjustment.

According to him, the President understands the difficulties faced by citizens and has instructed relevant authorities to implement measures that will help reduce the impact on the public.

He assured residents that the government is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to introduce policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
