Popular Nollywood actor and outspoken social commentator Lege Miami has reacted to the viral video allegedly showing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu collapsing during a ceremonial welcome in Turkey, strongly dismissing the footage as fake and misleading.
The controversial clip, which began trending online on Tuesday, captured a moment at an official event where President Tinubu appeared to briefly lose his footing before quickly regaining balance. The programme reportedly continued without interruption, but the video quickly fueled widespread speculation about the president’s health.
As concerns mounted across social media, Lege Miami took to his platform to address the growing controversy, insisting that the circulating footage was not real.
According to him, the video was generated using artificial intelligence and deliberately pushed online to misinform Nigerians ahead of the next general election.
In his words:
“Mr President didn’t fall. That video circulating is AI. It was created by the opposition because of the upcoming election. Our president didn’t fall.”
His comments immediately triggered mixed reactions online. While some social media users rejected his explanation and maintained that the clip was authentic, others accused political players of exploiting digital tools to spread misinformation.
One user wrote, “Everything is AI now? Nigerians deserve clear answers, not excuses.”
Another added, “Opposition or not, this kind of video needs official clarification.”
Amid the backlash, the Presidency also reacted, clarifying that President Tinubu did not collapse, but merely missed his step, emphasizing that the incident was not health-related.
As the video continues to circulate across platforms, the incident has once again reignited conversations around political propaganda, election-driven misinformation, and the growing influence of AI-generated content in Nigeria’s digital space.
