US Army Captain Bish Johnson (Rtd) has praised President Bola Tinubu for nominating former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, as the new Minister of Defence.
The development follows the sudden resignation of Badaru Abubakar, with General Musa expected to undergo Senate screening today, December 3, 2025.
Speaking to TVC News, Captain Johnson described the nomination as a “welcome development” and a “well-deserved appointment.” He said:
“President Tinubu has ensured operational stability by returning the former CDS as Minister of Defence. He was one of the security chiefs who worked tirelessly on the insecurity challenges that have plagued the country for over a decade. Some of us were saddened when he retired.”
He added that Nigerians can now expect better synergy between the Ministry of Defence and operational military commanders, including the Chief of Defence Staff, under Musa’s leadership.
The appointment has already sparked discussions across social media and among security analysts, who see Musa’s return as a positive step toward addressing Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.
