The Federal Government is preparing to disclose the identities of individuals and networks allegedly financing terrorism in Nigeria, in what officials describe as a major step toward strengthening national security.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, made this known during an interview on TVC on Sunday. He said Nigerians will soon see the outcome of several far-reaching security measures already being implemented by the administration.
A Global Fight Against a Borderless Threat
Bwala explained that terrorism has evolved into a cross-border phenomenon, making international cooperation essential. He noted that global powers now consider countries like Nigeria crucial in efforts to curb the spread of extremist activities.
Drawing from lessons after the September 11 attacks, he stressed that the world now treats terrorism as a shared threat. “Any country that allows terrorist activities to thrive becomes a danger to others,” he said, adding that this mindset has led to increased support for Nigeria from international partners.
Shift in Global Terror Activity
According to him, extremist groups that once concentrated in the Middle East have shifted operations toward the Sahel region, increasing pressure on West African nations. He emphasized the need for stronger regional alliances and intelligence sharing.
Domestic Crackdown Intensifies
On the home front, Bwala said the Tinubu administration has intensified its efforts to disrupt funding channels and operational structures used by violent groups.
He assured that full transparency will follow:
“In the coming days, we will reveal the identities of the groups and individuals behind these activities.”
A Step Toward a Safer Nigeria
Security analysts believe that exposing financiers could significantly weaken the networks that fuel instability. The government hopes that this move will cut off key support systems and discourage future collaborators.
More updates are expected as the Federal Government prepares to make the disclosures public.
