The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially extended the deadline for admission into public universities across Nigeria.
The announcement was made in a statement shared on the board’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, November 2, 2025.
New Admission Deadline
According to the statement, the initial deadline for all public university admissions was October 31, 2025.
However, due to “emergent and compelling circumstances,” JAMB has extended the deadline to November 17, 2025.
Reason for Extension
The board explained that the decision followed appeals from key stakeholders and a court order directing that the status quo be maintained regarding the 2025/2026 admission process.
JAMB added that the move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to expand access to quality education for all Nigerians.
Final Deadline — No Further Extension
While expressing appreciation to institutions for their cooperation in meeting the initial deadline, JAMB stressed that the new deadline is final and non-negotiable.
“The Board wishes to emphasize that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to,” the statement read.
“JAMB remains committed to ensuring a transparent and credible admission process that aligns with national education goals and institutional autonomy.”
