Tiwa Savage Reacts To Oyo School Kidnapping, Says Incident Isn’t Getting Enough Attention

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has reacted emotionally to the abduction of school children and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, expressing concern over what she described as the low level of attention the incident has received online.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, the singer revealed that she only became aware of the incident after seeing posts from fellow entertainer Spyro and media personality KieKie.

“I just started seeing the kidnapping that happened in Oyo just yesterday. It was Spyro’s post that came up,” she said.

Tiwa explained that she immediately began reaching out to people to better understand what had happened because she was surprised the story was not appearing prominently across social media platforms.

According to her, the situation became even more disturbing after learning that the attack reportedly happened nearly two weeks earlier.

“It’s not trending enough. It’s not trending as much as it should. Then I saw KieKie’s post saying the incident has taken place for almost two weeks,” she added.

Her reaction follows reports of coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where armed men reportedly abducted students, teachers and school officials.

One of the abducted teachers, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was later reportedly killed, while dozens of children and other victims remain in captivity.

The incident has continued to generate nationwide concern, with several celebrities, activists and public figures calling on the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and improve security around schools.

Tiwa Savage’s comments have also sparked conversations online about media attention, public awareness and the need for sustained pressure over insecurity and kidnappings in Nigeria.
