The Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular actor Alex Ekubo has passed away.
According to reports, the actor allegedly died on Tuesday afternoon after being placed on life support at a hospital.
A source within the Nollywood industry, who reportedly spoke anonymously, claimed that Alex Ekubo had been rushed to the hospital on Monday after battling serious health complications.
The source further alleged that the actor had been suffering from kidney cancer before his death.
Speculation about the actor’s health had earlier surfaced online in 2025 after his prolonged disappearance from social media.
Checks on his social media accounts reportedly showed that his last public post was made on December 30, 2024.
As news of his reported death spread online, fans, colleagues, and supporters flooded social media with emotional tributes and condolence messages.
Alex Ekubo was widely known for his roles in several Nollywood movies and television productions, becoming one of the industry’s most recognised actors over the years.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from his family or management team confirming the reports surrounding his death.
