An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Sagamu has adjourned the trial of the driver involved in the road crash linked to former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua until June 2, 2026.

The case, being heard at Magistrate Court 1 and presided over by Magistrate Olufunmilayo Somefun, was postponed to allow the prosecution file an amended charge.

This is the third adjournment since proceedings began.

The defendant, Adeniyi Mobolaji, is facing four counts related to the fatal accident, including dangerous driving causing death.

He was also charged with reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm, damage to property, and allegedly operating a vehicle without a valid national driver’s licence.

The prosecution counsel, G. O. Ogunyomi, requested more time to properly update the charges before the hearing continues.

The defence did not oppose the application, after which the court fixed June 2 for continuation of trial.

Speaking after the sitting, defence counsel Abiodun Olalekan said the adjournment would help ensure fairness and proper justice for all parties involved.

The case is linked to the December 29, 2025 crash along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway involving a Lexus SUV carrying Anthony Joshua.

The vehicle reportedly collided with a stationary truck, leaving Joshua and the driver with minor injuries.

However, the accident claimed the lives of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami.
