Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has made an emotional appeal to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde following the abduction of teachers and students by armed kidnappers.
In a video circulating on social media, the school principal pleaded with both federal and state authorities to pursue dialogue rather than force in efforts to secure the release of the victims.
According to her, a recent security operation allegedly worsened conditions for those being held captive.
Mrs. Alamu claimed that one of the abducted victims had reportedly been singled out for possible execution following the attempted rescue effort.
She appealed to the government to establish communication with the kidnappers and seek a peaceful resolution that would guarantee the safe return of the teachers and students.
“I’m begging the government, President Tinubu and the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to please help us and dialogue with these people,” she said in the video.
“They should not use force. The force they used yesterday has caused us so much. It has added to our problems.”
The visibly distressed principal further alleged that the abductors became more aggressive after learning of the security operation.
“In fact, one of us has been picked that they’re going to kill him because government tried to help us by force,” she claimed.
“We want you to call them and dialogue with them,” she added.
Mrs. Alamu was among several teachers abducted alongside pupils during coordinated attacks on schools in the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area earlier this month.
The incident has generated widespread concern across Nigeria, with families, community leaders, labour unions and civil society groups calling for intensified efforts to secure the release of the victims.
Security agencies have maintained that rescue operations are ongoing, while the Oyo State Government has repeatedly assured residents that efforts are being made to bring the abducted teachers and students home safely.
