Suspected terrorists have attacked Ungwar Bala village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing an elderly resident and abducting an ECWA pastor alongside members of his family.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community in the early hours of Sunday and carried out coordinated assaults on several homes.
A resident said the gunmen first went to the house of the elderly man and ordered him to open the door.
When he failed to comply quickly, the attackers allegedly forced their way into the house and shot him multiple times.
The victim was said to have died from the injuries sustained during the attack.
Afterward, the assailants reportedly moved to the residence of an ECWA pastor, where they abducted the cleric, his wife, and their two children.
Sources added that another man and his wife were also kidnapped from a separate home during the raid.
Residents said the attackers fired sporadically to create panic and force people indoors before fleeing with the abducted victims.
The latest incident has left the community in fear, with many residents expressing concern over recurring attacks in the area.
As of the time of this report, there was no official statement from the Kaduna State Police Command.
Efforts to reach police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan for comment were reportedly unsuccessful.
The attack adds to growing security concerns in parts of Southern Kaduna, where communities have repeatedly faced kidnappings and armed violence.
