Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Lagos State, with the programme set to resume in April.
The exercise will hold on the last Saturday of every month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Exercise Aimed At Cleaner Lagos
Sanwo-Olu said the sanitation exercise is not about politics but about public health and civic responsibility.
According to him, the goal is to make Lagos cleaner, safer, and healthier for residents.
“This exercise is not about politics or rivalry. It is about our collective responsibility to keep our environment clean and safe,” the governor said.
Residents Must Participate
The governor stressed that the government cannot keep the state clean without the support of residents.
He explained that the programme will cover all parts of the state and will help build stronger environmental awareness.
He urged Lagosians to take the exercise seriously and participate fully every month.
Sanitation Exercise Returns After Years
Monthly sanitation used to be common in Lagos but was stopped years ago.
The government says the reintroduction is part of efforts to improve hygiene, reduce flooding, and prevent disease outbreaks across the state.
