Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is at risk of suspension ahead of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The Nigerian forward is one yellow card away from a one match ban as the Turkish side prepares to host the first leg at Rams Park.
One Booking Away From Suspension
Osimhen has already received two yellow cards in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The bookings came in matches against:
- Juventus
- Atletico Madrid
Under UEFA rules, a player is suspended for one match after receiving three yellow cards in the competition.
If Osimhen is booked against Liverpool, he will miss the return leg at Anfield.
Spanish Referee To Officiate Match
The match will be handled by Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano, who will take charge of the first leg in Istanbul.
Galatasaray will hope their top striker avoids a booking, as he remains one of the key players for the Turkish club in the competition.
UEFA Suspension Rule Explained
According to UEFA regulations:
- Suspension comes after three yellow cards
- Another suspension follows every odd number after that
- Example: 3rd, 5th, 7th yellow card
This means Osimhen must avoid caution if he wants to play in both legs of the tie against Liverpool.
