US Embassy Warns of Possible Terrorist Threat Against American Facilities in Abuja

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert warning of a possible terrorist threat targeting American facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools in Nigeria, especially in the Abuja.

The warning was published on the embassy’s official website, advising U.S. citizens in the country to remain vigilant and take extra safety measures.

Warning Covers Embassy, Consulate, and US Schools

According to the notice, the potential threat could affect locations linked to the United States, including:

The embassy urged citizens to be cautious when visiting these places.

“The US Embassy in Abuja informs US citizens of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US-affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the statement said.

Citizens Told to Change Routes and Stay Alert

The advisory recommended that American citizens should avoid predictable movements and increase personal security awareness.

“The Embassy recommends that US citizens take additional precautions when travelling to the US Embassy, the US Consulate General in Lagos, and US-affiliated schools, including varying times and routes,” the notice added.

Security Concerns Remain High

The warning comes amid ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, including attacks by armed groups, kidnappings, and threats against public institutions.

Authorities have not announced any specific incident, but the alert signals heightened concern over possible attacks on foreign interests in the country.

Security agencies are expected to monitor the situation closely while citizens are advised to stay alert and follow official updates.
