President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increment for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, assuring that the welfare of military personnel will remain a top priority for his administration.
The President made the announcement during an interfaith breaking of fast with Service Chiefs held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Welfare of Soldiers a Priority
Speaking at the event, Tinubu said the government recognises the sacrifices made by soldiers who continue to defend the country despite difficult conditions.
He noted that many personnel spend long periods away from their families while confronting terrorism, banditry, and other security threats across the country.
“I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff, and recent approvals given to the Army are well placed. My duty is to thank all of you on behalf of a grateful nation,” the President said.
He added that the nation appreciates the commitment of the Armed Forces to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty.
Improved Pay, Accommodation, and Support
Tinubu assured the Service Chiefs that his administration will address key challenges facing military personnel, including salaries, housing, and support for their families.
According to him, the government will continue to take decisions that improve the living conditions of officers and soldiers.
“Your welfare, accommodation, and many other opportunities that should be extended to your families will take first priority in our decisions,” he stated.
Interfaith Gathering Highlights Unity
The President also spoke about the significance of the interfaith breaking of fast, noting that the coincidence of Muslim Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season reflects Nigeria’s diversity and unity.
He said the gathering shows that people of different faiths can live and work together for national progress.
Tinubu praised the leadership of the Armed Forces for their efforts in keeping the country safe and assured them that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.
