IMG 9560 The NaijaWide NewsA Nigerian woman has ignited intense conversations online after openly criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and cautioning citizens ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The viral video, which surfaced on Tiktok, shows the lady expressing deep concerns about the administration’s economic decisions since 2023, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy on the president’s inauguration day.

“His First Decision Was Fuel Subsidy Removal”

In the trending clip, she reminded Nigerians that on the very day the president assumed office in May 2023, he announced the removal of fuel subsidy.

According to her, that single move immediately reshaped the country’s economic landscape.

“The very first day he became president, the day he was inaugurated, he removed fuel subsidy. That was his first decision,” she said.

She explained that the subsidy previously allowed the government to cover part of the fuel cost, enabling Nigerians to purchase petrol at lower prices.

Fuel Prices, Dollar Rate & Rising Cost of Living

Following the policy change, fuel prices reportedly surged from about ₦180 per litre to over ₦1,000 in many parts of the country. The ripple effects were swift:

  • Transportation costs increased
  • Food prices skyrocketed
  • Business operating expenses rose significantly

She also referenced the naira’s depreciation, claiming the exchange rate moved from roughly ₦400 per dollar to over ₦1,400, further intensifying inflation and economic pressure on households.

According to her, the combined impact has made daily living more difficult for many Nigerians.

“Where Are the Improvements?”

The lady questioned whether the subsidy removal has translated into tangible national development.

She noted that the policy was defended on the grounds that funds saved would be redirected into:

  • Infrastructure development
  • Healthcare improvement
  • Education upgrades
  • Strengthening security

However, she argued that many citizens are yet to see noticeable improvements.

“They said the money will fix roads, improve hospitals, improve security. But people are still struggling. Things are not stable,” she stated.

Nigerians Divided Ahead of 2027

Her comments have sharply divided social media users.

Supporters Say:

  • The economic hardship is real and visible
  • Nigerians must carefully evaluate leadership choices in 2027
  • Promised reforms should reflect in citizens’ living conditions

Critics Argue:

  • Subsidy removal was a necessary long-term economic reform
  • Structural changes take time to produce visible results
  • Previous administrations delayed difficult but essential decisions

2027 Election: A Critical Moment?

As conversations about the next general election begin to surface, the viral video has added fuel to ongoing political debates.

With economic reforms, inflation, currency fluctuations, and security concerns dominating public discourse, analysts believe voter sentiment in 2027 could heavily depend on whether citizens feel measurable improvements in their daily lives.

For now, the discussion continues — both online and offline.
