Popular nightlife entrepreneur and celebrity socialite Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The businessman made the announcement via his Instagram page, revealing that he will be running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—a decision he described as strategic, intentional, and necessary to achieve real political influence.
Why Cubana Chief Priest Chose APC
Explaining his decision to align with the ruling party, Cubana Chief Priest said being in opposition limits one’s ability to effect meaningful change at the federal level.
According to him, joining the APC gives him a stronger voice to advocate for key national issues, including the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he stated.
He further credited Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom he referred to as “my father,” for his loyalty to the party.
“My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope,” he added.
Clarifies Support for Peter Obi in 2023
Cubana Chief Priest also addressed lingering questions about his political position during the 2023 general elections, where he openly supported Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Clarifying the situation, he explained that his involvement with the Obidient movement occurred while he was serving as a Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma.
“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi. But this time, I dey with Asiwaju,” he said, reaffirming his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027.
From Social Media Influence to Real Politics
The celebrity businessman described his House of Representatives ambition as a deliberate transition from online influence to active political engagement.
He stressed that the South-East needs younger, influential voices within government to effectively negotiate and protect the region’s interests at the federal level.
As reactions trail his announcement, Cubana Chief Priest’s entry into elective politics is already generating buzz, with many eager to see how his popularity will translate at the polls.
