Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has stirred fresh controversy after alleging that her colleague, Mercy Johnson, deliberately blocked her from featuring in a movie at the height of her career.
Ogala made the claim while speaking on recent events surrounding the arrest of actress Angela Okorie, using the moment to revisit what she described as a painful experience from 2012.
Doris Ogala Recounts Alleged Encounter Involving Mercy Johnson
According to Doris Ogala, she was informed by actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri that Mercy Johnson had declined to appear in any film where Ogala was cast.
She claimed Ruth Kadiri allegedly told her that Mercy Johnson insisted she would not participate in the movie if Ogala was involved and specifically asked that the message be relayed directly to her.
The revelation, Ogala said, left her emotionally shattered.
She disclosed that she broke down in tears after hearing the claim, adding that the situation was so overwhelming that Ruth Kadiri’s mother reportedly had to pray for her, reassuring her that she was not condemned.
Doris Ogala Says She Confronted Mercy Johnson
Ogala further alleged that she responded by calling Mercy Johnson personally to confront her over the issue, a conversation she described as heated.
She claimed that following the confrontation in 2012, she and Mercy Johnson have never met face-to-face again, except for indirect encounters connected to later industry-related controversies.
The actress also referenced the more recent drama involving Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy, stating that it marked the first major public spotlight on what she described as a long-standing rift between herself and Mercy Johnson.
Quoting Ogala directly, she said:
“In 2012, I was the hotcake in Lagos, shooting back to back from Asaba to Lagos. Kadiri wanted to use me in her movie. Ruth told me that Mercy told her that if I was going to be in her movie, that she will not play the role. And that Mercy told her to tell me that. When Ruth told me that I started crying. It was even Ruth’s mom that started praying that God has not condemned you. At that point I collected her number and called her and called her names. Since that 2012 till Regina Daniels’ brother Sammy matter, I and Mercy haven’t seen one on one.”
As of the time of filing this report, Mercy Johnson and Ruth Kadiri have not publicly reacted to Doris Ogala’s allegations.
