The management of fast-rising Nigerian streamer Peller has finally addressed the viral moment involving American internet sensation iShowSpeed during his recent visit to Lagos, following widespread online backlash.
The incident, which showed iShowSpeed appearing to ignore Peller’s attempt to engage with him, quickly went viral and sparked intense debates across social media platforms.
Management Says Contact Was Made Early
Reacting to the criticism, Bosa Lee, Peller’s manager, disclosed that Peller’s team had reached out to iShowSpeed well before his arrival in Nigeria.
Countering claims that no effort was made, Lee said:
“Some people are saying his management did not reach out to Speed. Who told you that the management did not reach out? I had reached out to them before now, but he said no, that he is not collaborating with streamers.”
According to him, the decision was already clear from iShowSpeed’s camp prior to the visit.
Miscommunication Triggered the Awkward Encounter
Lee admitted that the situation escalated due to a misstep by Peller’s team, particularly in how Peller was introduced to iShowSpeed.
“I think that’s where we made a mistake by introducing Peller as a streamer,” he explained.
He noted that this contradicted iShowSpeed’s earlier position, as the American star had reportedly stated he was not interested in collaborating with streamers during his tour.
iShowSpeed Explains His Stance
In response to the backlash, iShowSpeed also clarified that his visit to Nigeria was not centered on collaborating with content creators, stressing that such partnerships were never part of his plans.
The clarification has since cooled some of the online outrage, though the moment continues to trend as fans debate who was truly at fault in the viral snub.
