Former Liverpool and Ajax forward, Ryan Babel, has sent a strong warning to his former club ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Galatasaray, scheduled for November 5, 2025, at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.
Babel Predicts Tough Night for Ajax
Speaking in an interview with Saba, Babel cautioned Ajax about the challenge of facing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, describing him as one of the most dangerous forwards in Europe right now.
“Osimhen is a truly lethal striker. He can single-handedly bring any team to its knees,” Babel said.
The 38-year-old former Netherlands international, who has played for both clubs during his career, emphasized that Ajax’s defenders would have to be at their absolute best to contain the in-form Nigerian.
Osimhen’s Stellar Form at Galatasaray
Since joining Galatasaray from Lille in August 2023 for a reported €70 million transfer fee, Osimhen has been a consistent performer for the Turkish champions.
He has scored six goals in nine appearances across all competitions this season and recently became the first African player to score in four consecutive UEFA Champions League matches — ending a 13-year drought for Nigerian players in the competition.
Osimhen’s move to Turkey came after a high-profile fallout with his former club, Napoli, which eventually paved the way for his switch to Galatasaray.
With his blistering pace, aerial strength, and clinical finishing, all eyes will be on the Nigerian star as Galatasaray take on Ajax in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
