The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he would support former US President Donald Trump if he provides advanced technology to help Nigeria combat terrorism.
Wike made this known on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by DAILY POST.
His remark followed Trump’s recent statement alleging a Christian genocide in Nigeria and his decision to designate the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
Trump had also revealed that he instructed the US Department of Defence to prepare for possible military intervention should the Nigerian government “continue to allow the killing of Christians.”
Reacting to these developments, Wike said his focus was on solutions that would strengthen Nigeria’s fight against insecurity rather than political sentiments.
“It is not enough for me to capitalise on the fact that people are dying in Plateau, Benue, and other places,” Wike said.
“I have said that I will support Trump in providing and supporting Nigeria with technology in the fight against terrorism. I will also support any country that wants to proffer solutions in tackling terrorism in Nigeria.”
The FCT Minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s persistent security challenges, especially in regions frequently affected by violent attacks.
