Lagos’ buzzing nightlife took a dramatic twist in the early hours of Sunday as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stormed Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, arresting several partygoers, including Pretty Mike and Tuoyo Ideh.
According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation was based on credible intelligence regarding suspicious activities at the club.
The raid, which occurred around 3 a.m., led to the arrest of over 100 guests, among them the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu (aka Pretty Mike), and former reality TV star Tuoyo Ideh.
Babafemi revealed that NDLEA operatives had discreetly entered the venue around 11 p.m. on Saturday to monitor proceedings before executing the full operation. During the raid, several prohibited substances were allegedly found on some guests and in the club’s storage section.
He added that everyone apprehended was taken in for proper screening, stressing that those found culpable would face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.
The incident has sparked widespread conversation online, as many Nigerians expressed shock over the involvement of prominent figures like Pretty Mike and Tuoyo.
