
Nigerian skit maker and actor Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has accused officers of the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command of allegedly assaulting him, unlawfully seizing his phone, and stealing $1,200 belonging to his brother.
The allegation followed a video shared on his verified Facebook page, @Ijoba Lande 1, which has since gone viral.
Video Shows Visible Injuries
In the viral clip, the entertainer was seen with visible injuries around his eyes, while people around him tried to clean his face with water.
The video also captured him inside what appeared to be a police station, where he was attempting to lodge a complaint about the incident.
Claims He Was Beaten, Phone Taken
Ijoba Lande, who said he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom six days before the incident, claimed the officers physically attacked him during the encounter.
He alleged that they seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max and also took $1,200 cash belonging to his brother.
“I came back from the UK 6 days ago and was attacked and beaten by police in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life,” he lamented.
