
The lawmaker representing Isuikwuato constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has expressed deep sadness over the killing of a 35-year-old man, Uche Simon, who was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Johnson raised the matter as an urgent public importance during plenary at the Abia State House of Assembly, where he also revealed that the victim’s motorcycle was stolen by the attackers.
Two Killings Reported Within Two Days
According to the lawmaker, the first incident occurred on January 28, 2026, when Uche Simon was returning home with his motorcycle before he was attacked and killed.
He further disclosed that on January 29, 2026, another victim identified as Awba Abdulsalam, a 19-year-old motor boy, was also shot dead by gunmen at Nnunya Junction, also within Isuikwuato.
Call for Joint Security Action
Johnson confirmed that both the Police and local vigilante groups are currently working round the clock to track down those behind the killings.
He called for stronger collaboration between security agencies in Abia and Imo States, especially around the Okigwe axis, stressing the need for effective intelligence sharing to curb the rising insecurity.
Recommendations to Tackle Insecurity
The lawmaker also proposed several measures, including:
- Dismantling informal settlements around ABSU and Uta Farm
- Replicating the security strategy used in the Lokpa cattle market
- Installing solar-powered surveillance cameras across the area
Assurance to Constituents
Johnson assured residents that he remains committed to their safety and is working actively to ensure stronger security measures are implemented in Isuikwuato.
