Nigeria is buzzing after news broke that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is preparing to host what many are already calling one of the biggest wedding ceremonies of 2026.

One Father, Nine Children, One Wedding Day

In a move that has stunned social media and sparked massive reactions, Matawalle is set to conduct a joint wedding ceremony for nine of his children on the same day.

According to invitation cards currently circulating, the grand event is scheduled to hold on February 6, 2026, at the Central Mosque, Abuja.

Yes — nine weddings, one venue, one date.

Invitation Cards Confirm Couples

As curiosity grew, additional wedding cards surfaced online, revealing the identities of some of the couples set to walk down the aisle.

Among them is a prominent political figure:

  • Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, who will be marrying Nana Bello Matawalle.

Other confirmed unions include:

  • Ibrahim Sahabi Liman marrying Farida Bello Matawalle
  • Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani marrying Safiya Bello Matawalle
  • Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki marrying Aisha Bello Matawalle

More names are expected to emerge as the date draws closer.

Social Media Reacts: “Is This a Record?”

The announcement has sent Nigerians into a frenzy online, with many wondering:

  • Is this the largest joint wedding by a public office holder in recent times?
  • How elaborate will the ceremony be?
  • What level of security and logistics will be involved?

Some users praised the move as culturally admirable, while others questioned the symbolism of such a lavish family event coming from a serving defence minister.

All Eyes on February 6

With the date fast approaching, anticipation continues to build. One thing is certain:

February 6, 2026, will not be a normal day in Abuja.

Nine couples.

One powerful family.

One ceremony Nigerians won’t stop talking about.
