The Lagos State Police Command has officially stepped into the controversy surrounding Pastor Chris Okafor, following serious public allegations made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
The move marks a significant escalation in the matter, which has generated intense debate and scrutiny across social media platforms in recent weeks.
Commissioner Orders SCID Panti to Investigate
According to credible police sources, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to formally take over and investigate the allegations.
This directive reportedly came despite earlier police statements indicating that no official petition had been submitted by any of the alleged victims at the time.
Pastor to Be Invited, Alleged Victims to Be Contacted
Confirming the development, Lagos State Police spokesperson CSP Abimbola Adebisi disclosed that investigators have been instructed to invite Pastor Chris Okafor for questioning.
She added that the police will also reach out to individuals who have publicly accused the cleric, with the aim of identifying those willing to cooperate fully with investigators and provide statements.
Probe to Continue Without Formal Complaint
In a notable departure from standard procedure, the Commissioner of Police reportedly approved that the investigation should proceed even in the absence of a formal written petition.
As part of the inquiry, police operatives have also contacted a YouTuber who previously interviewed some of the alleged victims, in order to establish direct links to potential witnesses and obtain additional information.
Allegations Trace Back to December
The controversy first surfaced in December, when Doris Ogala publicly accused Pastor Okafor of misconduct, alleging that she had been involved in a long-term relationship with him since 2017.
The claims quickly went viral, triggering mixed reactions and prompting calls for an official investigation.
Comes After Pastor Announces Temporary Break From Ministry
The police intervention comes just days after Pastor Okafor announced that he would be stepping aside temporarily from ministry activities to embark on a retreat with his wife—a decision many Nigerians linked to the ongoing allegations.
