Fresh controversy has erupted online following the death of late Afro-Fuji singer Destiny Boy, as an alleged audio recording said to be his mother’s voice surfaced on social media, sparking shock, outrage, and renewed speculation about the circumstances surrounding his passing.

The 22-year-old singer’s death has already been surrounded by intense debate, with tributes pouring in from fans and colleagues even as conflicting narratives continue to emerge.

What the Alleged Audio Claims

In the trending audio, the woman believed to be Destiny Boy’s mother was heard placing what many described as a curse on the singer while he was still alive.

In the recording, she allegedly lamented the sacrifices she made for him and declared that he would never be successful again. She reportedly claimed that while other musicians might be paid ₦1 million for performances, Destiny Boy would struggle to earn as little as ₦50,000.

More controversially, the voice in the audio allegedly instructed him to inform his herbalists that she had placed a curse on him—statements that have since ignited fierce reactions online.

It is important to note that the authenticity of the audio has not been independently verified, and no official confirmation has been made regarding when or under what circumstances it was recorded.

Destiny Boy’s Sister Speaks Out

Amid the backlash and rumours, Destiny Boy’s sister has come forward to address the growing speculation.

She strongly dismissed claims that her brother died at an herbalist’s house or as a result of money rituals, insisting instead that he was poisoned. She appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified stories and allow the family to mourn in peace.

“Please let my family grieve. Not everything you hear online is true,” she reportedly stated.

Mother Breaks Silence Again With Shocking Claim

In a new twist, Destiny Boy’s mother has reportedly broken her silence, offering a different account of events leading up to her son’s illness and eventual death.

According to her claim, the singer had been battling a long-term illness, which allegedly began after he visited a herbalist identified as Ifayomi for initiation into Ifa worship.

She alleged that the herbalist showed unusual affection toward Destiny Boy and even gifted him a ram. However, shortly after that visit, she claimed, her son began to fall seriously ill.

These statements have further fueled online debates, with many Nigerians calling for caution, facts, and an official investigation rather than assumptions.

Public Reactions Explode Online

Social media has since been flooded with mixed reactions:

  • Some users expressed shock over the alleged audio and questioned the emotional and spiritual impact such words could have.
  • Others urged Nigerians to avoid spiritual conclusions and wait for verified medical and police reports.
  • Many called for empathy, stressing that grieving families often speak from pain.
