A United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has said that President Donald Trump is determined to bring an end to the killing of Christians in Nigeria, warning that further action could follow if the violence continues.
Moore made the statement on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, reacting to recent US-backed military actions against terrorist groups in Nigeria.
“Do Not Test Trump’s Resolve” – US Lawmaker
According to the congressman, the recent strike carried out in coordination with the Nigerian government marks only the first phase of a broader effort to confront terrorism and religiously motivated violence in the country.
“President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end,” Moore said.
He added that the US administration’s position on the matter should not be taken lightly.
“As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump’s resolve in this matter. Tonight’s strike, in coordination with the Nigerian government, is just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the wider security crisis affecting all Nigerians,” he stated.
US Signals Stronger Support for Nigeria
Moore stressed that the operation reflects a tougher stance by the United States in support of Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and violent extremism, noting that insecurity in the country affects people across religious and ethnic lines.
He warned that additional measures could be taken if the situation does not improve, reinforcing the message that the US is prepared to escalate its response if attacks persist.
The comments come amid growing international attention on Nigeria’s security challenges, particularly attacks attributed to terrorist groups operating in parts of the country.
