The Executive Director of U.S.-based humanitarian organisation Equipping the Persecuted, Judd Saul, has issued a security alert urging residents of several communities in Plateau State to remain vigilant over an alleged planned attack by armed groups.

Details of the Alert

In a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Saul stated that he had received what he described as credible information suggesting that armed bandits were planning coordinated attacks in parts of the state on Saturday, December 27, particularly around midnight.

According to him, the communities mentioned include Kara-Bisichi, Rassa, and Mararaban Foron in Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, as well as Latyi in Du District, and Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area.

Saul claimed that the attacks were initially scheduled for Friday, December 26, but were allegedly postponed to December 27.

“Residents of these communities and surrounding areas should remain on high alert, especially at midnight, as there are reports of plans for coordinated attacks,” he wrote.

Background and Previous Warnings

Equipping the Persecuted is a humanitarian organisation that provides support to persecuted Christian communities in Nigeria. Saul noted that this was not the first time he had issued such warnings.

He recalled that earlier in December, he had raised concerns about possible attacks during the Christmas period in areas including Riyom, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi local government areas.

Saul further alleged that previous warnings were dismissed by Nigerian authorities and security agencies, who reportedly described him as an alarmist.

Claims Yet to Be Officially Confirmed

In his statement, Saul alleged that armed groups were mobilising around border areas linking Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Kaduna states. He called on both the Nigerian government and international partners to take preventive action to avoid potential violence.

As of the time of filing this report, Nigerian security agencies have not issued an official confirmation or response to the specific claims raised in the alert.

Advisory to Residents

Security analysts often advise residents in areas facing security threats to remain cautious, report suspicious movements to authorities, and follow guidance issued by official security agencies.

The situation remains a developing story, with calls for heightened vigilance and prompt action to safeguard lives and property in the affected communities.
