President Bola Tinubu meets with Service Chiefs 1

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that four attack helicopters purchased from the United States will arrive in Nigeria soon, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s response to rising insecurity.

The president made the disclosure during a meeting with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), where he reassured citizens that his administration is taking practical steps to reinforce national security.

Boost to Military Capacity

According to Tinubu, the incoming helicopters are part of broader initiatives to upgrade the operational capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces and improve rapid response to security threats across the country.

He explained that the acquisition of advanced military equipment often takes time, noting that such hardware is not readily available for immediate delivery.

Despite these challenges, the president stressed that the federal government remains committed to equipping security agencies with modern tools required to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminal activity.

Broader Security Reforms

Tinubu also referenced ongoing discussions around wider security reforms, including renewed consideration of state and community policing frameworks. He said such measures would complement federal security operations by enhancing grassroots intelligence gathering and local response capabilities.

Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple security challenges, including insurgency in the North-East, banditry and kidnappings in the North-West, and communal violence in other parts of the country.

International Cooperation

The president added that his administration is working closely with international partners while pursuing multiple strategies aimed at restoring peace and stability nationwide.

The arrival of the U.S.-made attack helicopters is expected to significantly enhance aerial surveillance and combat operations, particularly in hard-to-reach areas affected by persistent security threats.
