The family of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has expressed concern following the release of her brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Daniels, on bail after several days in detention. Sammy West Freed After Days in Custody
Sammy West regained his freedom on bail after days of uncertainty. His elder brother, Lawrence “Sweezy” Daniels, confirmed the news on Instagram, thanking Nigerians for their support:
“Sammy, you’re a great man! Bail has been granted. Nigerians, thank you. From day one, I’ve said it, I believe you on this media space. None of your efforts are taken for granted. On behalf of the Daniels family, I say thank you. Thank God say man no be God.”
Family Alleges Ned Nwoko’s Influence in Arrest
Despite Sammy’s release, the Daniels family claims their troubles are far from over. Lawrence alleged that Senator Ned Nwoko played a role in his brother’s arrest, describing it as “unlawful and vindictive.”
According to Sweezy, Nwoko allegedly leveraged his influence to involve the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Sammy’s detention.
“Ned has also paid NDLEA to have Sammy picked up into their custody. But a magistrate court does not have jurisdiction over drug-related cases, only a federal high court,” he said.
Legal Concerns Over NDLEA’s Involvement
The Daniels family argued that transferring the case to NDLEA violated legal procedures, as drug-related offences fall under the jurisdiction of a Federal High Court, not a Magistrate Court. They warned this could be part of a larger plot to intimidate or silence Sammy West.
