Falz Raises Concerns Over Rescue DetailsCalls for Public AccountabilityPush for Collective Civic ActionBackground

Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has questioned the federal government over the circumstances surrounding the rescue of kidnap victims recently announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Tinubu on Sunday confirmed the release of 38 abducted worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, Kwara State, as well as 50 students who were among the hundreds kidnapped during the attack on St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State.

Falz Raises Concerns Over Rescue Details

Reacting in a video posted on his social media pages, Falz expressed concern about the absence of specific information regarding the rescue operations.
According to him, Nigerians deserve clarity on how the victims were freed, whether any arrests were made, and what measures have been put in place to prevent future attacks.

Falz noted that despite frequent government announcements of rescues, there is often no update on the kidnappers responsible for the attacks.

In his words:

“The President announced yesterday that all 38 people kidnapped in the Kwara church attack have regained their freedom, and that 50 of the over 300 kidnapped in Niger have also returned home. But there was no mention of any arrests, no mention of ransom, no explanation about the perpetrators. This is not enough.”

Calls for Public Accountability

The artist further encouraged Nigerians to take peaceful, lawful actions by reaching out to their legislators through calls, texts, emails, and WhatsApp messages.
Falz said citizens must demand a public hearing, broadcast live, to address Nigeria’s worsening security challenges and rising cases of mass abductions.

He questioned ongoing budget allocations to security agencies, asking why military personnel still appear ill-equipped despite significant funding.

Push for Collective Civic Action

Falz revealed that some Nigerians have proposed a peaceful protest later in the week, but stressed that coordinated communication with lawmakers is the most urgent step.

He provided a message template and links to National Assembly contact details, urging citizens to send unified demands to their representatives.

According to him:

“This is a national emergency. We cannot continue like this.”

Background

Nigeria has witnessed multiple abductions in recent weeks, including the kidnapping of more than 300 students and staff in Niger State and the attack on a Kwara church that led to dozens being seized.
Security agencies have not yet released detailed updates on the rescue efforts or the status of the attackers.

"President Tinubu announced yesterday that all 38 people kidnal@pped in Kwara State have been rescued, but the story is not adding up. There has been no mention of any arrests, and no information about whether a rånsom was paid. I'm tired of Nigerians always complaining online,… pic.twitter.com/jUrYB7iuPh
