Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has confirmed the release of 38 persons abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
The victims, who were kidnapped during a violent assault on the church last week, were freed on Sunday after several days of joint security operations.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the breakthrough followed coordinated efforts by multiple security agencies and federal authorities.
Governor AbdulRazaq also revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered enhanced security measures in response to the rising insecurity in Kwara and Kebbi states, including the deployment of additional tactical units to support rescue operations.
He expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force for their contributions to the successful rescue.
The governor further appreciated traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents for their cooperation throughout the crisis.
As of the time of this report, security agencies have not provided details on how the victims were rescued or whether any suspects were apprehended.
