Senator Ned Nwoko has responded to a viral video featuring a young lady, which sparked widespread rumours on social media that she is his “new wife.”
The speculation surfaced amid ongoing reports of marital issues between the Delta North lawmaker and his actress wife, Regina Daniels.
Ned Nwoko Breaks Silence
In a public statement, Senator Nwoko described the claims as false, mischievous, and malicious, stressing that the woman in question was not romantically linked to him in any way.
He clarified that the lady had visited him with her team as part of the Peace Ambassadors Initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, and that photos taken during the courtesy visit were normal protocol.
“It is mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives. Let me state clearly that I do not have any form of personal or private connection with her,”
— Senator Ned Nwoko stated.
Warns Against Fake News
Nwoko condemned individuals and blogs spreading the rumour for social media clout, warning that such acts could attract legal consequences under the Cybercrime Act (2015).
He urged the public to verify information before sharing, emphasizing that “not every viral post reflects reality.”
Online Reactions
The video has since triggered lighthearted reactions online, with many Nigerians joking that “even taking a selfie with Ned can spark marriage rumours.”
Senator Nwoko’s clarification, however, has put the matter to rest, reaffirming that the woman seen in the video was simply part of an official delegation — not his new wife.
