Well-known Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta, celebrated for his roles in Yoruba cinema, is grieving the tragic loss of his son. The 54-year-old actor shared the devastating news on Instagram, posting a photo of his child and writing:
“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son. Champ.”

This painful announcement comes shortly after a wave of similar tragedies in the entertainment industry—including the recent death of actress Peju Ogunmola’s only son .
The heartbreaking loss is particularly poignant for Chatta, who had previously disclosed that his first child—a baby girl—died due to poverty and lack of access to medical care. He shared that in a desperate attempt to save her, he trekked through several Lagos neighborhoods seeking help but was unable to get treatment in time, and she was ultimately buried in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate .
Fans and colleagues have since flooded his comment section with messages of condolences, expressing sorrow and offering prayers for strength during this shattering time .
