
The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025 as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The announcement, issued via the Ministry of Interior by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister, highlights the occasion’s importance to Muslim communities across Nigeria and beyond .
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah nationwide and encouraged reflection on the Prophet’s virtues—peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion—as essential to building a unified, prosperous nation .
The government also called on all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to use the day as an opportunity for prayer for peace, security, and stability, urging citizens to uphold unity and national development
